Volume 2, Insect Magazine

All about paper wasps.

All about paper wasps.

Yay Work!

I couldn’t think of a reason why the insects didn’t have their own magazine.

What I really love to do:
Magazine cover #2. The reflection. Reflection, what a great word that means so much.

Another Leadership Trait:
“Empathy. Being able to put yourself in the other person’s shoes is a key trait of leaders. Without empathy, you can’t build trust. And without trust, you will never be able to get the best effort from your employees.”
Never ask an employee to do something that you’ve never done or would never do.

I’ve spent most of my career making commissioned photographs for clients. After all these years if someone asked me, describe your perfect photography showcase, I would say without hesitation, “magazine cover.” I was lucky enough early in my career to have my photographs used on several covers and since I don’t have the opportunity right now to look for this kind of work, I thought I’d produce my own. Starting with the Virginia Moth Review.

Since our book group just read “Lincoln on Leadership” I did a little research on the traits of a leader and thought they were important. This work was done by Raymond Cattell, a pioneer in the field of personality assessment. He developed the Leadership Potential equation in 1954.
“Maturity. To be a good leader, personal power and recognition must be secondary to the development of your employees. In other words, maturity is based on recognizing that more can be accomplished by empowering others than can be by ruling others.”
